This course introduces the holistic perspective of child development (conception to age 14) from a Christian worldview. Students will study the different stages of growth in the areas of social, emotional, intellectual, physical, and spiritual development. Students will be given the opportunity to study profiles of children in different situations in order to learn how the environment affects a child’s development. Attention will be given to parent and family dynamics as being the primary educator of their child.
This is a directed study course: the instructor will develop the course of study with the student including instruction, related experiential activities, and assessment of learning outcomes for this course. Students will take this course at a distance but are welcome to join the class via video conference (i.e., Skype or FaceTime). Face-to-face interaction with the instructor is also encouraged.
